Q: Can you replace a Camry engine and tranny with a Supra Turbo engine?
I have a 98 Camry and I need to replace the engine. I want to go to a stronger engine, and I can get a 94 Supra engine and tranny for a good price. Can it be done? I think that the Camry is crossmember, is the supra?
A: I don’t think that you could perform that swap even if you had lots of money at your disposal. The Camry has a factory setup of a transversely mounted 3.0 V6 engine linked to a front wheel drive transmission. The Supra has a longitudinally mounted 3.0 in line 6 rear wheel drive. That Supra in line six is simply not going to fit into the Camry engine bay. The Camry was designed to be a safe, smooth, quiet, comfortable and reliable family car. The 98 Camry was never meant to be raced on the drag strip or to hug turns on Laguna Seca. However if you still wanted to be different and add some power to your car, you could simply swap in a factory 3.0 V6 and a TRD supercharger. I recommend a supercharger because it is lower maintenance and more reliable than a turbocharger while still giving you great HP and TQ gains. The TRD supercharger was specially built for the 3.0 V6 Toyota motor and if it were installed at the factory would actually be covered under warranty. The supercharger is much easier to do than the Supra engine. Along with the supercharger you can add simple bolt-ons like intake, header, and exhaust (nothing too loud please
. The Fourth generation (1997–2001) V6 Camry’s were available in manual 5 speed transmission also, so you should consider swapping out the transmission as well. Maybe also larger injectors, computer management system, sticky tires, and whatever you would like to do.
Q: How much would a 1994 camry with 131k miles on it would cost?
A dealer is selling a 1994 Camry, base line, for $2500. 5 Speed manual, roll down windows, 131K miles, interior is good, exterior is good, some rock chips in the front, antenna is broken, radio is missing 2 buttons, new clutch (thats what the dealer said)
Would 2500 be a good price for the Camry and the things that i listed on here? Clean title. He said he could check car fax also and show me.
A: check Edmunds.com.
Q: My 1998 Toyota Camry needs a new catalytic converter. How long can I drive it before it becomes a serious prob?
I have a 1998 Camry V6 and the check engine light just came on. The car needs a new catalytic converter. I just want to drive it for another year and then get a new car. Will any serious problems arise if I keep driving it without replacing the catalytic converter?
A: Depends on if its clogged or not, but with the engine light on you will not get an inspection sticker in any state. So if you don’t want to fix it then you may want to consider a different car sooner.
Q: Will Toyota Camry parts from another country work in my Camry even it has a different part number?
My camry ECU is busted and we don’t have salvage yards for used cars here in my country. It’s going to take forever to order from the local dealer and expensive too. I saw some on eBay (US) with the same exact year model as my car but the last digits of the part number is different? so i was wondering if this would work, coz i understand the part numbers are supposedly different in every country but they are the same part. Running out of options to get the car running again. Help!
A: As long as the plugs, and pin outs are the same, it should work. Computers are tailored to due to many factors, but I have sent computers from here (Japan) to Germany, and the US with no problems. Remember.. count the pins, and make sure the plugs are the same.
Q: What type of gas does the camry hybrid run on regular or premium?
I am looking to get a camry hybrid and was wondering if regular vs premium would make a difference. Right now I have a acura tl and I have to use premium or it doesn’t get as many miles, looses power and makes a funny sound. With gas prices going so high I need a car that isn’t costing me over $3.50 a gallon for 21 miles.
A: Regular for camry hybrid.
Q: How do I increase gas mileage of my Toyota Camry?
I Bought a used 2001 Toyota Camry under the impression that it gives good gas mileage (about 24 mpg in city and 28 mpg on highways). However, I’m shocked to note that my camry gives about 17mpg in city. Does anyone know the cause and / or how to get this fixed.
A: Make sure the tires are inflated to the factory specs and make sure that the air filter is clean, spark plugs aren’t fouled..basically just get a tune up. That’s usually all you need.
Q: Toyota Camry Brake lights do not work, even after replacing the bulbs and fuce?
I have a 1989 Toyota Camry and my brake lights do not work. I checked the fuses ( all of them! under hood and inside driver panel) also replaced all the bulbs with new. I still have no brake lights and the dash light indicator continuously shows a little car with the back light problem. What can I do? I would like to know if there is a stop switch attached to the brake pedal and if so how do I check it and/or replace if it is bad. Can I get a diagram and directions on this part…I think it is called an actuator switch? Also, if anyone has any other useful information as to what may be the culprit please let me know. Possible a relay or a link?
A: Replacing the switch is simple. Just a REAL pain in the @$$ to get to.
ADDED:
Check the relays under the hood in the power distribution box.
You may be able to swap it out with the rear window defogger relay.
Q: What is the bottom button on 1997 Camry keyless entry remote for?
Hello. I was wondering what the bottom button does on the 1997 Toyota Camry keyless entry remote. My friend and I were trying to figure this out, and the top one locks and unlock the car, but the bottom one seems to do nothing. His may just be broken, but what is it supposed to do? Thanks!
A: I believe that would be for the trunk lid (unless it’s red in color, which means it would be for the alarm.) If it doesn’t do anything, then the electric trunk release is bad.
Q: My Toyota Camry LE needs a new neutral safety switch, is it necessary to replace it or can I have it adjusted?
My Camry was just diagnosed with a problem with the neutral safety switch. I like to save some money by having the part adjusted by the autoshop. Is it possible? Or should I have it replaced? I can get a part from Auto Zone and have it installed. What’s the best way to go?
A: When a neutral safety switch goes bad, adjusting is pointless. Replace it.
Q: How much should I sell 1996 toyota camry with a locked engine for?
I’m looking to sell/get rid of my 1996 Camry since the engine locked up on it this past weekend. I recently put 1500 dollars worth of work into it with brand new brakes, tires, tune up, starter, struts and shocks. I don’t know if its worth anything now. But everything else was in stunning condition. I don’t feel like spending the 2k to get a new engine in it. How much could I sell it for random parts and whatnot.
A: Car over 10 years old with a locked engine.
won’t get much, maybe sell it in parts if you can go through that
Q: Wha’ts the difference between the Toyota Camry and the Camry Hybrid?
What’s the difference between a regular Toyota Camry and the Toyota Camry Hybrid? Which is the better buy?
A: Haha, I think I answered your question about the Corolla and Camry!
-First off, when people think of Hybrib, MPG is the only thing on their mind. Not power, just the money to fill up a tank.
-This might be helpful: Here are the models of the Camry. LE, SE, XLE, and Hybrid. The are listed from lowest price to highest price.
-But anyways, the “REGULAR” 2008 Camry gets 21 MPG in the city and 31 on the highway. Those ratings go for the LE, SE, and XLE models.
-The next model is the 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid, which achieves 33 MPG in the city and 34 MPG on highways.
–Here’s some more info.
-The LE has a 2.4 L, 158 Horsepower engine with either 5 speed manual or 5 speed automatic transmission.
-The SE also has a 2.4 L, 158 Horsepower engine with either 5 speed manual or 5 speed automatic transmission.
-The XLE has a 3.5L V6, 24 valve, 268 horsepower engine with a 6 speed automatic transmission. This is the most loaded and power model.
-The HYBRID has a 2.4-liter, 147 horsepower engine along with an electric motor that creates combined output totaling 187 horsepower.
Q: Why Toyota Camry 99 has a different color in bumpers and side mirrors?
I recently bought a 99 Toyota Camry. The bumpers and mirrors has a different color. Is this by design? Or the color faded up? If it’s by design then what would be the paint code for bumpers? The paint code label on the door says 4M9/FB40.
I need to buy a driver side mirror on EBay, but don’t know my paint code for mirror.
Please help. I’ll pick the best answer later.
A: bad paint or faded paint
use the color code to get the true color and then proceed from there.
Q: What’s the difference between the Camry and the Aurion?
I need to tell the differences between the two Toyota cars – the Camry and the Aurion.

Q: Will a carbon fiber hood look good on a green 96 Camry sedan?
My friend is offering me his carbon fiber hood which he had on his 96 Camry for $75 since he upgraded, it’s in perfect condition and I know it will fit. So do you think it will look good on a green Camry sedan? I am also planning to get it painted orange probably next year, so do you think it will look good on that color also. By the way it is the common dark grey almost black carbon fiber hood. Please help. Thanks.
It is OEM style.
A: No, please no, that will look uber tacky any weird unless you have a dark green that I can’t picture but crazy bright colors will contrast a lot. You need either a black, dark blue, anything dark. I’d love a carbon fiber hood though. Good luck dude…
Q: How do you jump start a 1989 Toyota Camry using a vehicle with a side terminal battery?
Hi;
We are trying to jumpstart a 1989 Toyota Camry, but the battery we are jumping it with (that of a 1996 Buick Regal) has side post battery construction. We cannot find the negative end; we kind of need it for this to work. How can we jump start it?
Thanks
A: as far as i know batteries were built the same , one terminal is positive and the other is negative. Not to be mistaken to know w/c is positve or nagative. Use voltmeter tester , there u have it.Do you know how to use the tester to test the batt. Tester has two leads, the red stands for positve , and the black stands for negative or common. Now if the polariy of the batt. you have is not visible at all..here’s how to use ur tester(vom). simply connect the two leads to the batt. terminal..pretending you’re using a digital meter ha. so the reading must be positive , if not revese it..and if reads positive..there u are..you are at the right connection.red is pos. and black is neg or common…
hope can help…
