Q: What would the insurance on a 1973 chevy nova cost?
It is not a SS it’s just a 1973 chevy nova for a 16 year old. Would it be outrageous? It’s not a souped up car really although the engine has some add ons.
Mr D grow a pair you high school drop out scum. I hope you enjoy your miserable pathetic life. I can’t wait to drive my ass around in my souped up chevy nova.

A: It sounds like a cop out but you need to actually check an online insurance company for a quote. You can get an answer in a few minutes. In my experience a 73 Nova will be fairly inexpensive, but being 16 will drive it way up. And, inexpensive is a relative term.

Anyway the point I wanted to make is part of the rate will be based on the engine that originally came in the car. The engine code is the 5th digit in the VIN. They won’t ask what engine you have, they’ll look at that number. The 250 6 cylinder will be cheaper than the 350.
FYI, the factory engines:
D = 250 1bbl L6
F = 307 2bbl V8
H = 350 2bbl V8
K = 350 4bbl V8

Q: What can i do to make my 1977 chevy nova faster?
HI my name is Roberto, i have a 1977 chevy nova 350 and i want to make it faster. I already installed a 4 barrel carburetor and i want it to make it faster. Can anyone help me?

A: N.O.S.

Q: How do I put a 454 in a 1969 Chevy Nova and get the tie rods to clear the oil pan?
I have a 1969 Chevy Nova with a 454 from a 77 Suburban. The car is not currently running, but I am slowly getting there. However, when turning the steering wheel, the tie rods bump against the oil pan and wheels only can turn a small amount. Has anybody delt with this before and how? It does not have power steering. The car was originally a V6. Will changing the front springs (something I am going to do anyway) help?

A: a simple oil pan swap will work or if you are a fabricator you couold build a custom motor mount to raise the engine a friend of mine had a 70 nova and 502 with oversized 8 quart oil pan instead of ditching the pan i made hime a set of mounts its really not that hard with plasma cutter and tig

Q: Chevy Nova?
I will admit, I find Novas a beauty and i just love them because of a certain movie. Apparently this one guy in my class thinks i am sorta of crazy because he keeps saying novas are a piece of crap and they won’t last (he drives a really crappy beat down honda), and i keep telling him if anyone puts money into a nova, you have a perfect car. I just dont know my question but what would your advice be?
By the way, here was my nova but i couldnt buy it. Sad eh? http://a588.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/38/l_65b5dbf6e128d4857c345e6ef7f316c3.jpg

A: bout the only thing the Honda can say is he will stop for gas less then you will with the nova.
i have owned a 64 nova ll, a 67, 68, 69, 70SS, 71RS and a 74 and have loved them all
one its a Chevy cheap to build, cheap to work on, you cant say that about a Honda and if i was in an wreck i wouldn’t want to be in the Honda, the Honda will have to be towed away and the nova will more them likely drive away,
and the nova you have a fare size back seat for that date with that sweet girl, the Honda less your 3foot 10 your not having any fun in the back of that car.
and just to point out go to any car show in any town, look on the road and see what Chevy’s are driving around and check with the DMV and see how many old Chevy’s are on the road that are 20years old and older, i know there way more then there is of any jap car or Honda’s.

Q: How much should I pay for 1986 Chevy Nova?
It’s a 1986 Chevy Nova, he’s parked it outside of his house for a year at least. Has around 100,000 miles on it, and needs new battery and maybe some little engine work. He’s asking for $400 but that seems high for me. Is it just me? I think $325 would be good. Am I wrong?

A: Well, here’s the catch.

You think it’s high. And you think 325 would be good.

That’s great.

You’re not the one selling it.

Say you’ve got something worth $400 to you, and I offer you $325…..how likely are you to drop 20% off your asking price, just because I don’t agree?

Unless he’s listed it as OBO, he wants $400 for it. That’s what it’s worth to him. You could always go elsewhere.

Q: What type of engine to put in my 1973 Chevy nova?
I am 16 and I am getting a 1973 Chevy Nova. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about what type of engine i should put in it. I was thinking about a 383 Stroker. I have 5k to spend and i know where I can get the 383 from (so no comments about the cost of the 383)…i just want to know what yall think i should put in it.

A: For the price, go with the 383. These Novas are relatively light and Im sure you will be very happy with your torquey stroker.

Q: How much would it cost to put ac in 1970 chevy nova?
I have a 1970 chevy nova that i want to put ac into, but i have no idea how much it would cost? I know it doesn’t have ac, but this car is in really good shape….only has 70,000 miles. I’m excited to get started!
Wow! Thanks for the tips!

A: Here are a couple of companies to check out;
www.classicautoair.com

http://www.vintageair.com/

They sell complete systems. Or they can sell just parts for what you may already have. A system seems to run about $1100.

Q: Is anyone selling a chevy nova in california?
I live in northern California and I am wondering if anyone has a chevy nova they want to sell. A 76 would be great but any year is good.

A: Nope. There are no Chevy Novas for sale in California. Sorry to bring you the news.

…but in all seriousness. Why don’t you look in the Autotrader or the Old Car Trader. Hemmings Motor News is a good one too.

Q: how much is a 1970 Chevy nova worth if i only have the body?
its a 1970 Chevy nova body with a primer coat. and i have most of the parts to the motor some used some new but nothing assembled. it has bucket seats and the interior can use some work.
how much would this be worth in us$
it is a 2 door.

A: 2 door or 4 door. about 1500

Q: Where do I pour the brake fluid for a chevy nova?
I have a 1975 chevy nova and i don’t know where the break fluid goes.

A: Amanda I feel some one should show you in person. Have them help you get aquantied with every thing under your hood. If you put fluid in the wrong place you could damage things.

Q: How can you put a dodge 440 in a chevy nova?
I have a 1969 chevy nova and was wondering how i could drop in an old dodge 440/375 motor and a 727 transmission

A: Find yourself a kit to install a late model Hemi in the Nova and you will be nearly there. Mounts are the same. Then all you have to do is fabricate the rest of the car.

Q: Where is the best place to go to get the interior redone for a 1970 Chevy Nova?
I just bought a 1970 Chevy Nova and I need to get the interior redone, FAST. I can usually do these things on my own, but I don’t want to risk it.

A: Hi Kayla – I did my own carpeting and saved a lot. I got the info on replacing the carpet at :

http://www.truck-and-car-floor-mats.com/replacement-auto-carpets.html

Maybe some of the dealers for ACC or Nifty will also do complete interiors. The links for ACC and Nifty are in the pages that link from the above.

Q: Where is the build sheet for 1970 Chevy Nova located?
My father just purchased a 70 Nova SS and it is supposed to be the big block version which is supposed to be a fairly rare car, but we need to find the build sheet to verify this. We have been told to check on the gas tank and under the dash are there any other places that chevy placed these. The car is originally from Oklahoma.

A: I found a build-sheet attached to the inside of the ‘back rest’ portion of the back seat, on my second owner ‘70 monte carlo. It perfectly detailed the car’s contruction parameters. I don’t know if the car was custom ordered-it did have the 300hp-350ci-T-350 combo with tilt p.s.,disc p.b. and factory a.c. The build sheet backed-up all this detail along with body paint specs and interior trim specs and wheel/tire specs.

Q: Does anyone know how to change out the front shocks in a 72 chevy Nova?
I have a 72 chevy Nova and I am needing to replace the front shocks because they are totally shot. The shocks run in-between the front coil spring. What is the best/safest way to change them out myself? I can’t really afford to take it to a auto repair shop. Thanks in advance…..

A: There is a trick to this. The upper studs are visible under the hood. The nuts on them are 9/16″. Use a deep 9/16″ socket, and a long extention. Place the socket over the stud and nut, and move it back and forth from front to back until the stud breaks off. Then just remove the two 1/2″ bolts from the bottom and drop the shock out. When you install the new ones, only tighten the nut on top until the bushings are squeezed down to the diameter of the washers.

Breaking off the studs saves you the trouble of fighting rust on the threads. I can do a pair in about 10 minutes. Nothing to it.
