Q: Why do car companies make fast cars when we can’t legally drive them on the street?
It is pretty dumb. Why are there speed limits when we know that there are fast cars that reaches it’s speed limit higher than the signs of speed limit on the street or somewhere?

A: I don’t mind people speeding and such if they do it semi-responsibly. If it’s late at night and you want to gun it and hit triple digits then cool. I’ve done it before in my car. If it’s 6:30 PM and there is mild traffic and you’re blowing past people at 95 when traffic is flowing at 70 then you’re being an idiot.
Q: What interesting things about fast cars can I talk about?
I’m doing a 5 minute presentation at school and I’d just like to see if anyone’s got some interesting ideas as to what I should talk about. I’d like to include things about energy efficiency and the past, present and future of fast cars
A: you can talk about the technology of nos and how it affects the speed when mixed in with the gas. and you can talk about how far we’ve come from the model T ford to the top fuel drag racers.

I like Mitsubishi lancer evolutions but any website that sells fast pimped out cars is good enough for me.
A: Where I come from we modify our own cars, inside and out.
Buying an already “pimped out’ car seems like cheating to me.

I need to do a presentation on how math is involved in cars going fast but i can’t find any math. It would be great if someone could help or give me a website. Something that involves why there are side panels, spoilers and how they keep the car on the ground by eliminating lift.

Q: Do people who enjoy fast cars also enjoy plane rides?
I have a friend who says he loves “speed”. He likes to go fast. He drives his car fast, drag races, enjoys watching car races.
One time, we went on a trip together on a plane. I though he would be fascinated and amazingly excited about going at a speed of 600 miles per hour! But he didn’t seem to enjoy the flight at all. In fact, he fell asleep on the plane.
Why do some people enjoy fast cars? And why wouldn’t these same people be excited about flying in a plane at much greater speeds?
A: because you can feel the speed and the adrenaline rush when you’re in a car, but in a plane it dosen’t really feel like your moving at all :/ although i do enjoy take off and landing

im 16 and only have $5,500. im really trying to get a car quick but dont know what cars to look for, im really into fast cars but with this budget i am clueless.HELP!
A: The chances are, whatever you get for that much will either be wrecked or have a whole bunch of miles on it.
I know you’d like a nice, fast car, but if I were you, I’d wait until you have around twice as much as you do now, because I have a whole list of fast, used cars that you can get for around $10,000-15,000.
Here it is:
Around 30 mpg:
1) Dodge Neon SRT-4 (MOPAR Stage 2 or 3 kit makes it really fast-FWD)
2) ‘95′-’02 Chevy Camaro Z28 or SS (RWD)
3) Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-X (AWD)
4) Toyota MR-2 Spyder (RWD)
5) Mazda RX-8 (RWD)
These two (#4 & 5) are fairly slow, but they achieve high mpg numbers and can be fixed up to be fast. The MR-2 Spyder especially, with a turbo or more powerful engine can be made to be fast, as it’s quite light.
6) Mazda MX-5 Miata (RWD)
This one isn’t fast either, but it’s a RWD car, making it better for power increases. However, it’s more difficult to give a bigger engine or whatever, because that will most likely mess up the weight balance.
Around 20 mpg:
7) ‘93-’5 Mazda RX-7 (twin turbo-RWD)
Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo (RWD)
9) GMC Typhoon (fast truck/SUV-RWD)
Of these, the fastest (all stock) are the GMC Typhoon (0-60 in 5 seconds or less), the Camaro SS, and SRT-4.
The Camaro Z28 runs from 0-60 in 5.5, as does the SRT-4, but the SS is probably faster, and the SRT-4 can decrease that sprint time to below 5 seconds with a MOPAR Stage 3 kit.
All of these can be tuned to be faster than they are already, of course.
The RSX Type S does 0-60 in 7.8 or less (no faster than the 6-second range, if that). The Miata and MR-2 Spyder both go from 0-60 in the 7-second range, I believe.

i mean Europe is a different story, but here in the US, they make cars that can top 120mph and the legal speed limit never goes over 75, here in California it never tops 70 and the highest ive seen it is 75 in Arizona, so why make fast cars if we cant legally drive them to their full potential?
A: They’re all basically bankrupt. They desperately need money. It turns out, people will pay money for a car that goes faster than 55 mph.
If you were dictator of a totalitarian state, you could dictate that everybody had to drive a car that would only go 55. If people didn’t like it, you’d shoot ‘em. But it’s pretty hard for a business to get away with that.
So GM and Ford don’t have the option of forcing people to take what they produce. GM could have gotten away with that, frankly, in 1955. But not now.
Q: What do you think is the attraction for guys in sleek, fast cars?

A: well, many humans are attracted by FLASHY things, things that look nice, scream expensive , essentially saying “I’m important”. its an ego boost. its also a sign of power and aggression, especially when your driving a sleek CRAZY car at like 120 mph.
its a stimulant, people are generally very bored, people like to watch movies, argue, have sex, fantasize, work out, DRIVE FAST to stimulate them and end their boredom. My friend drives extremely fast on back roads “just to feel the danger, makes me feel alive”. Its a form of entertainment.
The same experience of watching someone be incredibly focused and drive really fast, while doing a noble cause, or just by trying to get away from someone. same thing can be seen in movies with stylized, martial arts fighting. The combination of Intense fighting, aggression with intense concentration mixed with a noble cause or w/e is INCREDIBLY appealing. People get pumped up by that. Same thing when people walk and talk fast, that whole “something is going down and i’m a part of it” feeling.
I got mad pumped, when i was watching Valkyrie, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and Basic Instinct and such. Movies are DESIGNED that way to stimulate the viewer.

A: No: I think is safer having a responsive car, “fast” cars accelerate, corner and brake better.
Yes: Stupid people won’t see you. Cops will try to ticket you even when you’re not speeding. Insurance is diabolical, even if your driving record is spotless. Irresponsible stupid kids will want to race you.
